Lone Star Tournaments
Where Champions Qualify
Frequently asked questions and new changes from 2023 into 2024
1) NEW for 2024:
a. The amount awarded for Air Travel has been increased from $400 to $500 to all those
winning an NHC Seat from Lone Star Park. Air Travel will be in the form of an airline gift
card from player’s choice of available airline’s that offer gift cards (American,
Southwest, Delta).
b. The maximum number of entries per player allowed in each tournament has been
increased from 2 to 3.
2) Can someone “Double Qualify” for the NHC from Lone Star Park?
Yes. A participant is allowed to earn up to Two (2) NHC Seats in total as well as both of them
from Lone Star Park, but only One (1) NHC Seat per event. Any participant that happens to have
multiple entries from any one event finish in places that both award NHC Seats will only receive
One (1) NHC Seat from that event.
3) I’m not an NHC Tour member; can I still participate in a Lone Star Park tournament?
Yes, however, only in Feeder events. Current NHC Tour membership is required to participate in
tournaments with NHC Seats on the line. Non-Tour members cannot earn an NHC Seat.
4) Why do you say “No Entry Fee” when there is a “Buy-In” required?
The “Buy-In” is 100% your bankroll. We’re just tracking your play. You keep your winnings and
remaining balance. The vast majority of other tournaments take a percentage of your buy-in and
will apply it to the prize purse (the entry fee). Lone Star Park is 100% funding all prizes to be
awarded. We feel this adds incredible value to the horseplayer and provides a much greater
chance for you to walk away a winner! When you buy-in to a Lone Star Park Live Money
Tournament there is no monetary commitment. You have the option to disqualify yourself from
prize contention at any time by withdrawing your full balance.
5) Can you wager with a Live Human Teller in the Tournaments?
No; All tournament wagers must be made on a “Red” Self-Serve betting terminal.
6) What are the Maximum amounts that can be wagered at a Self-Serve Wagering Terminal?
There are no maximums with regard to the tournament rules; however, there are maximum
allowable transaction amounts on the wagering machines:
Win = $250, Place = $250, Show = $250, Exacta = $50. (Example: If you wanted to do a $500
Exacta you would need to punch in a $50 Exacta and repeat it 10 times.)
7) What does “All In” mean exactly?
If your bankroll is below 50% of your starting amount at the beginning of the “Late Race Period”
then you will be asked to go “All In”. All eligible wager types can only be wagered in increments
of whole dollars. So, if your bankroll is $10.50 at the beginning of the “Late Race Period” you will
be required to wager at least $10.00.
8) What happens if my horse scratches and impacts the amount I needed to wager?
A scratch will not exempt a player from wagering the required amounts; players should be
prepared to act quickly in the event their horse(s) are scratched in the final race of the ‘early’ or
‘late’ period. It is the responsibility of the player to meet all requirements.
9) I didn’t pre-register, can I still participate?
YES; We accept entries through the day of the contest.
10) Can I fund my Buy-In with a Credit Card?
No. Only Cash, Check or Money Orders are accepted. Checks and Money Orders will have a
deadline of 4 days before the contest. Cash is accepted through the day of the contest.
11) Will I receive receipts or betting slips of the wagers I make within the tournament?
No. Please keep track of your plays by using the provided scoresheet or your own methods. You
may view your wagering activity or cancel a wager on the self-serve machine, however the
machine will only provide the denomination of the wager, and not the total spent on the wager
(Example: on a $50 WPS wager on the #2 Horse, the machine will just display “$50 WPS #2” and
will not display the total spent of $150). We HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you write down the
amounts you spend for your own tracking purposes.
12) I didn’t pre-register, can I still participate?
YES; We accept entries through the day of the contest.
13) Can I fund my Buy-In with a Credit Card?

transaction (per Texas Racing Commission rules). No credit card cash advance allowed in Texas
at Race Tracks.
